Meditation

Meditation is a method of quitening the mind, and slowing the brains rhythms.  The goal is to reach the alpha or theta brainwave state, as during these states antibodies and endorphins are released, and these facilitate healing.

Meditation can assist with improving a wide variety of health conditions including, stress, anxiety, headaches, weight issues, addiction, blood pressure issues, insomnia, digestive issues, fertility and reproductive issues, emotional, behavioural and mental health problems.

While some people are effortlessly able to meditate, many people find it difficult to reach a meditative state.  The general steps to get started in meditation are: find a relaxing place to meditate, make sure you wont be disturbed, get comfortable, breathe slowly and deeply, clear your mind, and just observe any thoughts that come to you and let them float by.

There are many relaxation, nature sounds or guided meditation cds and mp3s available for purchase in new age stores, music shops and online that may help you with meditation.
